Fans at Origins Rocks Earth Month™ Concert
In celebration of Earth Month and to encourage awareness for its Global Earth Initiatives, Origins hosted the second-annual Origins Rocks Earth Month™ concert on April 20, 2011, at Webster Hall in New York City. Three-time Grammy Award-winning band, Train, headlined the concert with additional artists including emerging singer-songwriter, Nikki Jean, and a special performance by the Treetop Flyers, the winner of Origins Green Band contest. Popular radio DJ, Jeff Miles of 95.5 WPLJ-FM emceed the concert. Other attendees included Jane Lauder, William Lauder, Lynne Greene and numerous music industry executives, beauty editors, bloggers and celebrities including Adrienne Bailon.

“As a band that frequently travels from continent to continent, environmental awareness and taking care of the planet are very important to us,” revealed Train front man vocalist Pat Monahan. “We were thrilled to headline the second annual Origins Rocks Earth Month™ concert and partner with Origins, a brand known for its industry-leading environmental stewardship.”

Origins offered two free tickets to each consumer who visited select Origins retail stores in the tri-state area and submitted an “earth pledge,” a promise of how they would strive to be more eco-conscious in the coming year.

Due to the overwhelming consumer interest during the inaugural Origins Rocks Earth Month™ concert in 2010, Origins recognized the need to make this year’s concert accessible to a global audience. As such, Origins streamed the concert live on April 20 with rebroadcasts occurring twice on April 21. Additionally, select Origins stores in ten top markets nationwide hosted live streaming parties so fans outside of New York could enjoy the concert and celebrate Earth Month. Party attendees enjoyed hospitality while being treated to “Ready, Set, Rock” Makeovers and cosmetic bag samples while watching the concert streaming live from New York City.

The global expansion of Origins Rocks Earth Month™ successfully kicked off in January with Origins Rocks Earth Seoul and continues with the Origins Rocks Earth Month™ China concert scheduled for April 29, 2011 in Shanghai. Continued growth of this successful franchise is expected in the coming years, raising awareness of Origins Global Earth Initiatives and helping to improve the environment. In 2012, Origins hopes to host its third annual Origins Rocks Earth Month™ concert in New York City as well as its first-ever concert in Europe.

More than 170,000 viewers globally logged-on to watch the event online. Origins will plant 5,000 trees on behalf of every concert attendee as well as live stream viewer, including those at Origins live stream viewing parties, through its partners American Forests® Global ReLeaf™ adding to the 93,000 trees planted since the inception of Origins Plant-A-Tree program in 2009.

To further mark Earth Day, Origins once again hosted its successful Trade In program for customers in the USA and UK. On April 22, customers who visited an Origins retail store or department store counter were invited to “trade in” any one of their existing skin care products, regardless of brand, in exchange for either a Checks and Balances™ Frothy face wash or an A Perfect World™ Antioxidant cleanser with White Tea. Online customers also received a free cleanser with any $30 purchase. Specifically designed for the Trade In program, both award-winning, paraben free cleansers were packaged in limited edition, graffiti decorated tubes made from 30% post consumer plastics with caps made from 100% recycled plastics. All cosmetic packaging collected will be recycled or responsibility converted to energy through the Return to Origins Recycling Program.
