2008 Campaign Message:
“World Pink. World Without Breast Cancer. Wear a Pink Ribbon. Make a Difference.”

The latest BCA Campaign, “World Pink. World Without Breast Cancer. Wear a Pink Ribbon. Make a Difference.” encapsulated the spirit of bringing people together from all walks of life to find a cure for breast cancer. The Campaign was created by Marisa Acocella Marchetto, cartoonist and author of the graphic memoir Cancer Vixen, and symbolizes Marisa and Mrs. Lauder’s vision of a planet entirely cancer free. In October 2008, Elizabeth Hurley, Spokesmodel for Estée Lauder and The Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, traveled to several cities, participated in events at numerous retailers and illuminated several global landmarks to inspire men and women to seek information about early detection and breast health. Additionally, the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign unveiled a new Public Service Announcement, which featured Elizabeth Hurley urging viewers to wear a Pink Ribbon, to practice breast self examination and to visit their doctor for a routine clinical breast exam and/or a mammogram if over the age of 40. Splendid, for the second year in a row, created a limited-edition tank top as an exciting way to alert people to the “World Pink” message.
