Operations

The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. operations involve the development, manufacturing, packaging and distribution of our products.

Environmental, health & safety has been integrated within our core business functions to ensure a safe and efficient workplace for our employees.

The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. Environmental and Safety Policy Statement contains our commitment to employee safety and environmental protection. Our operating departments execute this with the technical assistance and participation of the Global Environmental Affairs and Safety Department (EAS).

Corporate EAS colleagues are primarily responsible for:

  • Developing environmental and safety policies
  • Performing periodic reviews of facilities
  • Providing technical support to the Operations’ site managers and the Corporate Environmental Affairs & Safety Committee.

In addition, there are full-time and part-time Environmental, Health and Safety staff at Company locations in Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, The United Kingdom, and The United States. These employees are primarily responsible for administering the day-to-day environmental and safety program.

Corporate environmental and safety programs are complemented by work performed by several other key departments:

Operations and Human Resources personnel provide the training resources needed to comply with regulatory and corporate training requirements.

The Risk Management Department provides key resources for technical assistance through management of the insurance coverage at all Company facilities. This cooperative agreement includes funding of specialty services (risk assessments, industrial hygiene and ergonomic surveys, hazard analysis), coordination with insurance providers and data on accident cost.

The Legal Department provides advice and guidance concerning the overall program, specific issues that arise relative to regulatory impacts and response to contact from regulatory agencies.

The Regulatory Affairs Department provides assistance in reviewing potential chemicals for their Environmental, Health and Safety impacts within Company operations.

The Engineering Department provides technical expertise in ensuring that all projects include environmental, health and safety issues within their scope to prevent problems before they arise.

All Company personnel through their dedication and commitment to excellence support the EAS department's goals and objectives by continuously working together to improve employee safety and minimize the environmental impacts of our operations.
