Environmental Health & Safety Supply Chain

The Estée Lauder Companies continuously works with its supply chain and third-party manufacturers in order to enhance the EHS performance of the Company. Working together we have developed programs that reuse and reduce the quantity of packaging materials to decrease waste and conserve natural resources.

EL has developed a program to ensure supplier & third party manufacturer’s compliance to Estée Lauder’s EHS requirements.

  1. All new suppliers sign off that they can meet The Estée Lauder Companies corporate EHS specifications including legal compliance to environmental and safety regulations, waste disposal and transportation of dangerous goods.
  2. Purchases orders detail the environmental specifications required for componentry including pre and post-consumer waste, industrial scrap and the certification of heavy metal content in packaging.
  3. Program audits are conducted to ensure that a specific criterion is being met. For instance a random sampling of all wood and wood fiber suppliers is conducted each year in order to ensure that they are in compliance with our policy for sourcing materials from either recycled paper or fiber products, or managed sustained yield forests.
