The Company’s environmental and safety performance is based on a common thread. From the Chief Executive Officer issuing a policy and releasing funds for capital expenditures to a line attendant wearing safety glasses, each employee makes a significant contribution to the overall EHS performance of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc.
The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. has implemented a variety of programs that go beyond legal requirements in order to create a healthy and safe work environment for our employees.
The implementation of ISO 14001 is just one example of the Company’s efforts. While no internationally accepted Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standard existed at the program’s start, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. developed OHS guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of each one of our employees globally. Our Environmental & Safety Management System covers all aspects of EHS activities.
Workplace Communication
Employees are provided safety-related information via training, team meetings, and postings on the Intranet. Among the items communicated to employees are reviews of facility processes, pollution prevention plans, material handling risks and audit findings. The employee safety committees have been invaluable in working with facility EHS staff to help communicate information.
Employee Training
All employees receive training applicable to their job function and/or as required under local regulations. Training topics include: personal protective equipment, laboratory safety, and powered material handling equipment. In addition, employees receive awareness training about the Estée Lauder Companies Environmental & Safety Management System.
