Executive Chairman
Welcome to The Estée Lauder Companies’ website. We invite you to get to know our Company by exploring our portfolio of brands, our heritage and our commitment to social responsibility, as well as many additional aspects of our workplace and corporate policies and practices.
The guiding vision of The Estée Lauder Companies is “Bringing the best to everyone we touch.” By “the best,” we mean the best products, the best people and the best ideas. These three pillars have been the hallmarks of our Company since it was founded by Mrs. Estée Lauder in 1946. They remain the foundation upon which we continue to build our success today.
Our Products
The Estée Lauder Companies markets more than 10,000 quality products under a large portfolio of brands which are a crucial competitive asset, delivering consumer satisfaction and performance second to none. Innovation is the driving force that propels our growth. Each year we add more than 300 new offerings. About one third of the Company’s sales come from skin care, makeup, fragrance and hair care products introduced within the previous three years.
Our People
As our Chairman Emeritus, Leonard A. Lauder, is fond of saying, “The wealth of a company is its people. By that standard we are a very wealthy company.” With 32,000 employees worldwide in more than 140 countries and territories, The Estée Lauder Companies benefits from the contributions of individuals who share curiosity, ingenuity, passion, energy and an unquenchable desire for success. And regardless of where they live, people want to come to work for The Estée Lauder Companies – and they want to stay. We are deeply committed to nurturing this great resource and fostering a collaborative working environment that transcends geography.
Our Ideas
While the success of great products can be measured by sales and profits, our overall achievements are measured by the power and promise of our ideas. Over the years we’ve insisted on being the foremost innovators, seeking out and nurturing the very best concepts for our consumers. Everything we do reflects the input and influence of our global teams. This applies not only to the products themselves, but to every area related to our business -- including research and development, packaging, marketing, advertising, customer service and operations. A few examples:
- Our leadership in product development is a direct result of the creativity generated by more than 450 scientists working in eight corporate research & development centers around the world.
- Thousands of our employees at 14 manufacturing facilities in North America and Europe are dedicated to ensuring that these products are made with the most sophisticated technology and the highest standards of quality.
- We were the first cosmetics company to offer free samples and Gift-With-Purchase.
- We were the first to introduce consistent brand imagery around the world.
- We were the first major prestige cosmetics firm to offer shopping on the Internet.
The Future
As we look ahead, we believe that The Estée Lauder Companies is ideally positioned for continued sustainable, profitable growth. We will accomplish our goals by remaining focused on our key strategies:
- Innovating new products
- Driving product categories
- Diversifying distribution
- Expanding global reach
- Achieving operational excellence
Most importantly, our highest priority will always be our commitment to building great brands and attracting great people. Thanks to them, The Estée Lauder Companies will remain the consumer’s first choice for the very best in cosmetics.
