"This is a wonderful story for our community since we both have one thing in common, our village, is one of the most beautiful on the lake of Zurich. Lachen and our people are so appreciative of ELC for the many jobs you provide" said mayor "we can achieved a lot together through mutual understanding and cultivating a long standing relationship. Today, we look forward to continuing to work together for 40 more years." Stated Pit Marty, Mayor of Lachen.

"We wish you wonderful success!" Shared Canton representative, Kaspar Michel, Member and Vice President of the Canton Government Council.

The site, which was established in 1977 as a small fragrance manufacturing plant, has experienced tremendous growth and success over the past forty years. Today, it serves as the global distribution hub for the Company’s high growth Travel Retail channel, supplying duty-free environments including airports, airlines, cruises, downtown locations and border shops in more than 120 countries. Additionally, the plant produces significant volumes of fragrance and skin care products each year.

“The incredible development of the Lachen Site was only possible through a wonderful team, which delivered the best. The local and Canton authorities have supported us throughout all these years. This is a model of a successful and sustainable collaboration. We can all be very proud of it” shared Jürg Schreier, General Manager Lachen.

In recognition of this milestone, more than 300 employees attended a celebratory event at the Lachen site together with honored guests, including members of the Canton Government, authorities of Lachen and Galgenen, and representatives of Genossame Lachen. The event served as an opportunity to honor and thank the dedicated workforce and all local community and government partners who have supported the Company over the years. The highlight of the celebration was the surprise guest appearance of Mr. Leonard A. Lauder, Chairman Emeritus of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., who joined the celebration to recognize employees and the local community.

Sharing a personal anecdote, Mr. Lauder said, “One of the most proud moments of my life has been helping to create the wonderful facility in Lachen. My love of Lachen, Schwyz, and Switzerland goes back a long time. 40 years ago, in 1977, we founded our first facility in Lachen. And since then, we have done great things and expanded to become the hub of our worldwide duty free operations. It is all because of you and what you’ve been able to do.”

“We are very proud to celebrate the 40th anniversary of our Lachen site and honour our incredibly talented and hardworking employees,” shared Greg Polcer, Executive Vice President, Global Supply Chain, The Estée Lauder Companies. “This milestone marks an opportunity to reflect upon the past 40 years of achievements while looking ahead towards the future as we continue to grow our business in Switzerland and beyond”.

“It is a great honor for me to be here as we also celebrate this 40th year anniversary. I am very thankful to our great team who has supported the Company’s Travel Retail strong growth with an amazing dedication and professionalism.” said Olivier Bottrie, President, Travel Retail Worldwide.
