Fabrizio Freda is President and Chief Executive Officer, The Estée Lauder Companies, a global leader in prestige beauty. He joined the company in March 2008 as President and Chief Operating Officer. Since assuming the CEO position in July 2009, Mr. Freda has been responsible for the company’s overall vision, strategy, financial objectives, and investment priorities. Mr. Freda is a member of the company’s Board of Directors. In his current role, Mr. Freda is a key architect of the company’s long-term strategic plan, which is focused on gaining share in the global prestige beauty industry and delivering sustainable, long-term, profitable growth. The strategy includes prioritizing resources to the most promising opportunities, making further investments in consumer knowledge, driving innovation and creativity through products and services, and expanding the company’s distribution and geographic penetration. Mr. Freda has led strong integration across the company’s brands, regions, channels, and functions to create cost efficiencies and leverage scale. Under his leadership, the company’s multiple engines of growth have delivered record sales and profits.
Mr. Freda is a strategically-focused, financially-disciplined, results-oriented leader with a proven track record in the consumer products industry. Prior to joining The Estée Lauder Companies, Mr. Freda had an impressive 20-year career at Procter & Gamble (P&G), where he was responsible for numerous operating, marketing, and strategic efforts spanning different geographies and categories. Mr. Freda also spent more than a decade in positions of increasing responsibility in the Health and Beauty Care division at P&G. During that time, he led the launch and expansion of a P&G hair care brand in several European countries. Notably, in his last role at P&G as President, Global Snacks, he restructured the business, orchestrated its successful turnaround and managed employees, factories, and research and development centers around the world.
Prior to P&G, Mr. Freda directed marketing and strategic planning for Gucci SpA. Mr. Freda attended the University of Naples Federico II and holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration.
Mr. Freda joined the Board of Directors of BlackRock, a global asset management company, in 2012. In 2013, he was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Global Business Initiative at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Mr. Freda was presented with Italy’s Cavaliere del Lavoro by President Sergio Mattarella, made a Knight in the National Order of the French Legion of Honor, and named to Barron’s exclusive list of the World’s Best CEO’s.
