The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), returned to the Glasshouse in New York City on May 14 for its annual Hot Pink Party. Guests, including Lauder family members, ELC leaders, and brand ambassadors, joined to support more than 30 years of breast cancer research. BCRF remains the leading non-profit partner of The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign in the company’s mission to help create a breast cancer-free world for all.
ELC Executive Chairman and BCRF Board Co-chair William P. Lauder was honored with the Evelyn H. Lauder Spirit of Philanthropy Award. Named in memory of William’s mother and BCRF’s founder, the award celebrates generosity at its finest—awarded to a visionary individual, family, or organization whose altruistic impact profoundly improves the lives of others.
Janet Pardo, Senior Vice President, Global Product Development, Clinique and breast cancer survivor introduced the award to William, sharing, “He is so generous with his time and talent, committing himself fully to this critical role in addition to his responsibilities at The Estée Lauder Companies, with his family, and so many other notable pursuits. Giving back, and giving his all, are the hallmarks of William’s style.”
William’s daughter, Danielle Lauder, presented him with the award. In his acceptance, William expressed, “I would like to thank the brilliant BCRF researchers who work every day to bring us closer to the end of breast cancer and all of you for your support for believing in their important work. The future is bright, and we will all continue to work together towards a world free from breast cancer.”
Hosted by Elizabeth Hurley, Global Ambassador of ELC’s Breast Cancer Campaign, the evening raised more than $11 million to support BCRF’s global legion of 250 scientists pursuing high-impact, lifesaving breast cancer research. BCRF funds investigators who have been deeply involved in every major breakthrough in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and metastasis. Today, BCRF and its cohort of scientists continue to proudly champion Evelyn’s legacy, advancing meaningful progress against this diverse disease.
ELC has been at the forefront of supporting the global breast cancer community ever since Evelyn H. Lauder co-created the iconic pink ribbon and launched the company’s Breast Cancer Campaign in 1992. After learning about the critical need to raise funding for scientific research, Evelyn founded BCRF one year later, in 1993.
Together, ELC’s Breast Cancer Campaign and The Estée Lauder Companies Charitable Foundation have funded more than $131 million for lifesaving global research, education and medical services with more than $103 million funding medical research through BCRF.
