In late September 2022, The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) was represented at the 44th Annual Conference and Expo of the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) in Atlanta, Georgia. ELC shared the space with more than 250 companies to conduct 44 onsite interviews to build on our talent pipelines, drive employer branding, and increase awareness of our portfolio of prestige brands. Our attendance at the conference resulted in more than 700 event registrants and more than 400 applicants who applied for roles across our 5 business functions and regions—Brand Marketing, Travel Retail, Finance & Strategy, Strategy & New Business Development, and Information Technology.

Kenneth Holley, Board Member of the New York Metro Chapter, NBMBAA, said, “It is such a warming and dynamic feeling to see ELC here at the National Black MBA Association Conference in Atlanta.”

At ELC, we are committed to ensuring that our portfolio of makeup brands delivers products that meet the diverse shade and formula needs of the Black community. To increase brand love and awareness of our portfolio of brands at our booths, ELC invited attendees to experience ways to put their best foot forward for their next interview with our experts at Estée Lauder, Clinique, M·A·C, and Aveda. At the Estée Lauder mini counter, attendees explored the multi-category products of our flagship brand. The key experience, the new Luxury Fragrance Collection, was at the center of the activation via digitally immersive screens and 8 sample scents. The experience featured product giveaways of the full-sized, bestselling fragrances in the collection. Attendees interested in skin preparation techniques explored Clinique’s Clinical Reality and Virtual Try On station that enabled guests to discover their favorite products, find their perfect shade of Even Better Clinical Foundation, and learn how to glow on the go. Artists at the M·A·C station celebrated the brand’s inclusive offering of 63 foundation shades of Studio Fix Fluid Foundation with services that focused on quick and repeatable looks for the busy professional. At the Aveda station, attendees discovered curly hair collections best suited to nourish and hydrate your coils.

To end the night, attendees were invited to a night of cocktails, dancing, and mingling at Club M·A·C, a networking reception hosted by M·A·C and featuring raffled prizes and a live DJ.

“Being together in person for the first time in what seems like forever feels amazing. Feeling the energy in the room and the excitement people have is amazing. I think it’s driving really incredible interest in who we are,” said Michael Bowes, SVP, Global Talent, ELC.

The NBMBAA’s 44th Annual Conference and Expo was a unique opportunity for students, early and mid-career professionals, managers, and senior leaders to take advantage of the more than 250 Fortune 1000 companies interviewing and hiring onsite. Attendees were given opportunities to get the professional development needed to drive their career forward, make key connections, and get involved in targeted development opportunities that connect companies to their next great hire to support the next generation of leaders.

At ELC, we are committed to establishing strong partnerships with Black organizations to increase recruitment. Our longstanding partnership with the NBMBAA represents our commitment to Black talent and our mission to increase representation overall while ensuring that ELC continues to support the professional development needs of future leaders and drive meaningful relationships with external candidates.
