We greatly value the trust our consumers place in our extraordinary products for their efficacy and safety. As a company, we pride ourselves in caring for people, communities and the environment.
Animal Testing
The Estée Lauder Companies was one of the first cosmetics companies to eliminate animal testing as a method of determining product safety. We don’t test our products on animals and we don’t ask others to test for us. We acknowledge our brands are sold in countries where animal testing on cosmetics or cosmetic ingredients is required by law. As a global company dedicated to bringing many of the industry’s most beloved products and experiences to our consumers in over 150 countries and territories, we believe it is our responsibility to contribute to the sustainable solution to end animal testing for cosmetics.

We take a serious approach to ending counterfeit activity and work closely with global law enforcement and government agencies to shut down illegal counterfeiting operations and remove counterfeit products from the market.
Egyptian Jasmine
The BBC recently released a documentary, “Perfume’s Dark Secret,” about child labor in the collection of jasmine in Egypt, with a particular focus on two AERIN Beauty products. We are taking the allegations in the documentary very seriously and want to ensure you are aware of the steps we are taking to swiftly address this matter.

Lead and Other Heavy Metals
Consumer safety is a top priority at The Estée Lauder Companies and our products undergo our rigorous safety evaluation process.
Lead and other heavy metals are never added as ingredients to our products. However, these earth elements are ubiquitous and found naturally in air, water and soil. So they may also be found at extremely low amounts in some of the raw ingredients used in formulating some cosmetics products.
Microbeads
Modern Slavery
Every day at The Estée Lauder Companies, we make choices that we know will have impact far beyond our business, and that is a responsibility we take very seriously. As we approach our operations and our supply chain, we aspire to foster respect for people and the environment and to be a positive influence in every community in which we operate and from which we source. This Modern Slavery statement outlines the actions undertaken in the fiscal year ended June 30, 2023, to identify and minimize risks relating to modern slavery in our business and enterprise.
No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation (NDPE) Policy

We are committed to responsible sourcing of palm-based ingredients (palm oil and its derivatives) and are working with suppliers, communities and knowledgeable organizations to find sustainable solutions to palm sourcing.
Pinkwashing
For more than 30 years, The Estée Lauder Companies has actively supported global breast cancer research, education and medical services, helping to raise millions of dollars to eradicate this disease through its Breast Cancer Campaign. “Pinkwashing” is a term used for what some feel is the over-commercialization of and misleading marketing of breast cancer awareness programs by corporations. We take our commitment to the cause of breast cancer awareness and research very seriously, and respect the concerns raised about Pinkwashing. We are very clear in our communications to consumers as to what portion of their purchases go directly toward the fight against breast cancer.
Plastics
At The Estée Lauder Companies, citizenship and sustainability are embedded at the core of our business. We know that plastic is among the most pressing sustainability issues today and we are committed to tackling virgin plastic use and working to minimize plastic waste.

At The Estée Lauder Companies we are committed to the highest standards of professional and personal conduct.
Consistent with the commitment to be a responsible citizen in every community we serve, we conduct our relations with governments in places where we do business in accordance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.

As a company, we devote extensive resources to developing innovative cosmetics, skin care and in-sun products with effective and substantiated UVA and UVB protection.
Sun protection products are regulated differently around the world. We comply with all the local and international regulations in the markets in which our products are sold.
Timber
Forests are key to maintain biodiversity, regulate ecosystems, sequester carbon, support livelihoods, and drive sustainable growth. Ambitious action on deforestation is needed to achieve global climate goals and curb biodiversity loss.
Water Stewardship Policy
We use water as an ingredient to make our products, as well as for cleaning and cooling manufacturing equipment. Our R&D and Quality teams also rely on water to perform testing, in analyses, and to develop new products. Access to high-quality water is essential to our business, and we are committed to reducing our impact on local water resources through implementation of our water stewardship strategy. Additionally, we recognize that water stewardship is important to both mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change.
