Preservatives

Consumer safety is a top priority at The Estée Lauder Companies, and our ingredients undergo a rigorous protocol of safety evaluation.

We use a variety of approved preservatives, recognized as safe and designed to protect cosmetic products against the growth of bacteria, yeast and mold during storage and consumer use, in our products in accordance with all applicable local and international regulations.

Occasionally we get questions from our consumers about specific preservatives. A type of preservative that is often mentioned is parabens. Parabens are chemicals used as preservatives in foods, drugs and cosmetics. Parabens have been recognized as safe by international regulatory boards governing cosmetics. As is our practice, we are constantly reviewing new scientific data and opinions of scientific and regulatory agencies and institutions. We will continue to comply with new or amended regulations regarding preservatives used in our products.
