The Estée Lauder Companies Celebrates CEW 2025 Innovators Honorees Dr. Jaime Emmetsberger and Lauren Waldrum

Recognition for Scientific Innovation & Design in Beauty Underscores Company’s Commitment to Transformative Innovation & Advancing Women

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Estée Lauder Companies proudly congratulates Dr. Jaime Emmetsberger, Director, Advanced Technologies, and Lauren Waldrum, Vice President, Global Product Development, La Mer, on being named 2025 CEW Innovators honorees. Presented by CEW in partnership with the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC), the CEW Innovators celebrate 31 exceptional women shaping the science of beauty—trailblazers in ingredients, sustainability, packaging, technology, and formulation who are redefining innovation across the industry. This recognition underscores the company’s emphasis on driving transformative innovation and advancing entrepreneurial, creative and innovative women.

Dr. Jaime Emmetsberger, a neuroscientist and fellow at The Estée Lauder Companies and lead scientist at La Mer’s Max Huber Research Labs, has been recognized for her groundbreaking research into the neuro-skin connection where she reprogrammed dermal fibroblasts into sensory neurons to better understand how the skin perceives and responds to stress. Her work bridges neuroscience and regenerative biology, redefining the science of sensitive skin and resilience. Her findings, presented at Neuroscience 2024, introduced a new model for studying skin sensation and post-procedure recovery—advancing how performance skincare is developed. Her work represents a significant advancement in understanding the interaction between the skin and the nervous system. By unraveling the mechanisms that govern neurocutaneous communication to balance skin, this research lays the groundwork for inspiring the development of precise and effective skin care innovation.

“At The Estée Lauder Companies, transformative innovation is powered by deep scientific exploration and creative collaboration,” said René Lammers, Chief Research & Innovation Officer, The Estée Lauder Companies. “Jaime’s work pioneering new frontiers in adaptogenic science and longevity embodies our mission to push the boundaries of science and design to deliver breakthrough performance for prestige beauty consumers around the world.”

Lauren Waldrum is celebrated for her visionary leadership in product innovation and craftsmanship, most notably as the driving force behind La Mer’s breakthrough launch, The Rejuvenating Night Cream. This transformational formula introduced one of the most revolutionary skincare launches of the year. Under Lauren’s direction, the team pioneered the Marine Retinol Alternative (MRA-3™), a next-generation retinol alternative that delivers visible results without irritation. The product reflects Lauren’s deep partnership with the scientific community, including The Salk Institute for Biological Studies. Under her guidance, the product achieved remarkable clinical results, including visibly reversing eight key signs of aging in just one night. Lauren is known for advancing La Mer’s legacy of luxury skincare through visionary design, combining innovation with uncompromising performance.

"For over 20 years, Lauren has been a driving force behind La Mer’s innovation—blending cutting-edge science with the most indulgent and luxurious textures to reimagine skincare. Her boundless creativity and deep commitment to excellence have brought to life beloved products like our new Rejuvenating Night Cream,” said Sandra Main, President, Skin Care Category and Global Brand President, La Mer. “Lauren’s passion continues to elevate how we deliver superior efficacy and connect with our consumers around the world."

The Estée Lauder Companies’ Research & Innovation and Product Development teams partner to combine science and creativity to drive transformative innovation. The company intends to triple the percentage of innovation launched in less than a year — from 10% to 30% — and is already making strong progress.

With more than 50% of its global Research & Innovation workforce identifying as women, The Estée Lauder Companies continues to lead the beauty industry in advancing women in science and innovation. Both Emmetsberger and Waldrum represent the company’s legacy of scientific excellence, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and investment in the next generation of STEM talent.

The CEW Innovators spotlight women transforming the science of beauty across formulation, design, sustainability, and technology. Honorees were featured in a special CEW report debuted on November 19 and celebrated at a private cocktail event hosted by CEW and The Lipstick Lesbians in New York City. CEW members can access the exclusive Innovators Report and join a January webinar for an in-depth discussion with several of the honorees.
