The Estée Lauder Companies Announces Dr. Rishabh Kala's Appointment to the Science of Skin Summit Faculty

Highlights the company’s commitment to advancing the science of skin longevity

Press Release

NEW YORK, July 22, 2026  The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. (NYSE: EL) announced today that Rishabh Kala, PhD, Executive Director, Advanced Technologies, The Estée Lauder Companies and Estée Lauder Lead Scientist, has been appointed to the faculty of the Science of Skin Summit, one of the leading educational forums dedicated to advancing the science of skin health. Dr. Kala was selected by the Summit's co-chairs to join a distinguished and multidisciplinary faculty of board-certified dermatologists, cosmetic chemists, researchers, and industry leaders shaping the future of aesthetic and medical dermatology.

Held annually in Austin, Texas, the Science of Skin Summit convenes leading medical and industry experts to explore the latest scientific discoveries, clinical research, and emerging innovations transforming skincare and dermatology. Dr. Kala's appointment reflects ELC’s longstanding leadership in skin longevity science and its commitment to advancing the understanding of the biological mechanisms that drive skin aging.

At this year's Summit, taking place September 17-20, Dr. Kala will present "The Clinical Relevance of Sirtuin Activators in Skincare," highlighting Estée Lauder’s pioneering research into skin longevity and the role of sirtuins in promoting healthier, more resilient skin. Based on nearly 20 years of longevity research, the presentation will explore how sirtuin-activating technologies help counteract the natural decline in sirtuin activity associated with aging skin and support more youthful skin cell activities/functions, while demonstrating the broader relevance of this emerging area of skincare science.

"Sirtuins are fascinating. They are NAD⁺-dependent enzymes that function as master regulators of cellular health, acting as molecular timekeepers that orchestrate DNA repair, metabolism, mitochondrial function, and genomic stability. They're often called 'longevity proteins' because of their central role in helping skin cells function more effectively over time," said Dr. Kala. "Our research has focused on unlocking the potential of sirtuins in skin because of their strong connections to skin resilience, barrier integrity, and mitochondrial health. By activating these pathways, we're supporting the skin's natural ability to repair and renew itself and maintain healthy function as it ages."

Estée Lauder continues to advance the science of skin longevity through pioneering research into the fundamental mechanisms of skin aging. Dr. Kala's appointment to the Science of Skin Summit faculty underscores The Estée Lauder Companies’ commitment to collaborating with the scientific and dermatology communities to translate breakthrough discoveries into high-performance skincare innovations backed by rigorous scientific research.
