Company Feature

The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) is ranked No. 1 on Forbes’ List of America’s Best Employers for Women 2019, released today. The company climbed 21 spots from 2018, when Forbes first introduced this list, to claim the coveted top position this year.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by Forbes as a Best Employer for Women,” says Alexandra Trower, Executive Vice President, Global Communications, The Estée Lauder Companies. “We were founded by a woman so cultivating a culture that supports female employees is just a natural part of our DNA.”

Following in the footsteps of its founder, Mrs. Estée Lauder, The Estée Lauder Companies has always strived to empower women at all levels of the company, wherever they work — in manufacturing facilities, laboratories, corporate offices or retail environments. Today, women constitute 84% of ELC’s global workforce; 53% of senior positions (vice president and above) are held by women; and 43% of the company’s Board of Directors are women.

A few company characteristics highlighted by Forbes include:

  • New and enhanced family-related programs, policies and benefits for employees in the U.S., including a 20-week Paid Parental Leave Policy
  • Countless career trajectories and stretch assignments available to employees around the world, with options to move between brands, regions and functions
  • Mentoring, reverse mentoring and sponsorships that support and encourage career growth

The Forbes’ America’s Best Employers for Women list is based on an independent survey of more than 60,000 U.S. employees working for companies with at least 1,000 people within the U.S., from all industry sectors. For more on the methodology, click here.
