ELC Salutes Veterans & Launches Red, White & Blue Notes

The Red, White & Blue Notes initiative encourages U.S. employees to send letters to active military members

Company Feature

Today, The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) salutes veterans and is launching a new campaign, Red, White & Blue Notes, with the company’s Veterans Employee Resource Group (ERG). The company-wide initiative encourages U.S. employees to send letters to active military members. This important program is inspired by our ELC veterans and sponsored by Chairman Emeritus and veteran Leonard A. Lauder, who knows firsthand the power and joy that a thank you note can bring. “Sending a message to someone, you’re making someone feel recognized, and respected, and missed,” said Mr. Leonard A. Lauder. ELC employee and Veterans ERG member Shawn Stanley notes, “receiving letters from friends and family, kept me focused, kept me right in the middle of any initiative going on in the United States or my family. It’s important, it’s a lifeline to that military personnel. It’ll bring them back home. Write a letter, bring them back home.”

ELC salutes veterans and launches a new campaign

Every year on Veterans Day we are reminded of the brave service and sacrifice of the men and women in uniform. This Veterans Day, we honor our ELC colleagues in uniform, as well as all those who have served, and we extend our deepest gratitude to their families who sacrificed alongside them every step of the way.

“Thanks to all our employees who have served and all those who continue to serve, we salute you,” said Mr. Lauder. “My experience in the military helped me in every facet of business and I know it does the same for the talented, dedicated and brave veterans who are now part of the ELC family. Please join us in sending notes to the brave men and women currently stationed abroad."

At ELC, the members of our Veterans ERG continue to be role models and leaders by dedicating themselves to their communities through countless volunteer hours and to our ELC community through mentorship of new veteran employees.

The company is also proud to support ELC veterans with its enhanced U.S. Military Leave of Absence Policy for employees who continue to serve, in order to make it easier for them and their families to fulfill their duty to our country. Under the expanded policy, eligible ELC employees who are called to active duty or required to attend annual military reserve training will receive differential pay, which is the difference between the employee’s ELC salary and their active duty military pay, for up to one year. This expanded policy ensures that employees can retain their ELC medical benefits along, with other benefits, for this time.
