In Honor of Mother’s Day, ELC Encourages All Women to Advocate for Breast Health

ELC’s Breast Cancer Campaign champions open conversations and actions to promote breast health for all women.

Company Feature

In honor of Mother’s Day, The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign (The Campaign) encourages mothers, daughters, and all women to advocate for their breast health and have meaningful conversations about the topic. Globally, breast cancer is the most common cancer and causes the greatest cancer-related deaths among women.1 In the U.S., 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer in her lifetime.2

Today, and every day, these are some of the things women can do for their breast health*:

  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of breast cancer
  • Have an open discussion with a doctor about personal risk of breast cancer, especially if there’s a family history of breast or other cancers
  • Make an appointment for an annual mammogram once they reach the recommended age
  • Find a form of regular exercise that works best for them
  • Incorporate proper nutrition into their current diet and make an effort to ensure that they are also eating leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables, and foods rich in fiber
  • Limit alcohol consumption and quit smoking
  • Get to know what’s normal for their breasts and call their doctor if they experience any significant changes.
  • Learn how to perform a breast self-exam from Dr. Zoe Williams, UK & Ireland Ambassador for The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign:

To date, The Breast Cancer Campaign and The Estée Lauder Companies Charitable Foundation have together funded more than $131 million for lifesaving global research, education, and access to medical services, with more than $103 million funding medical research through the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
