Pinkwashing
Pinkwashing
For more than 20 years, The Estée Lauder Companies has actively supported global breast cancer research, education and medical services, helping to raise millions of dollars to eradicate this disease through its Breast Cancer Campaign.
“Pinkwashing” is a term used for what some feel is the over-commercialization of and misleading marketing of breast cancer awareness programs by corporations. We take our commitment to the cause of breast cancer awareness and research very seriously, and respect the concerns raised about Pinkwashing. We are very clear in our communications to consumers as to what portion of their purchases go directly toward the fight against breast cancer.
The Breast Cancer Campaign has raised more than $99 million through employee activities and donations, private donations, Pink Ribbon Product sales and contributions from many of The Estée Lauder Companies’ brands. These funds go directly to global research, education and medical services related to breast cancer and have resulted in significant innovations and improvements in care and research.
Our commitment extends to ensuring the safety of our products and the well‐being of our consumers, by working diligently to identify and replace chemicals or other ingredients linked to breast cancer.
We are very proud of what the Company has accomplished, and remain a stalwart and dedicated driver for this cause.
