ELC Celebrates 10 Years of Women in Supply Chain Employee Resource Group
Company Feature, Oct 7, 2024
This past September, The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) marked the 10th anniversary of its Women in Supply Chain employee resource group (ERG) by hosting powerful employee events at its offices in Galgenen, Switzerland and Long Island City, New York, U.S. The events, which collectively brought together more than 300 women (in person and virtually) who work across the company’s end-to-end Value Chain, as well as male allies, focused on the theme of “Elevating Women in Supply Chain.” Both events featured a variety of professional development workshops, external keynote speakers, panel discussions with members of ELC’s Supply Chain Leadership Team, and networking opportunities. Topics spanned inclusion and diversity, gender equity, wellness, the workplace of tomorrow, and more.
The Women in Supply Chain ERG, established in 2015 at ELC’s Northtec campus in Pennsylvania, is part of ELC’s broader Women’s Leadership Network and focuses on connecting women across the company’s supply chain and cultivating an environment of learning, leadership, and coaching to foster talent development. Over the past decade, the ERG has grown to more than 1,000 members spanning 31 ELC offices and 13 manufacturing and distribution sites around the world. Jamal Chamariq, Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain – EMEA, Travel Retail Worldwide, UK & Ireland; Berenice Vettore, Chief Quality Officer; and Gaelle Le Meur, Vice President, Human Resources, Global Supply Chain, are also executive sponsors of the ERG.
“Since its founding, our Women in Supply Chain ERG has shown outstanding leadership and an unwavering commitment to elevating women in supply chain across the enterprise,” said Jamal. “With such dedication, the sky is the limit!”
A highlight of the New York event was a fireside chat moderated by Maggie McGrath, Editor, ForbesWomen. The discussion looked back at the 10 years of progress within the Women in Supply Chain ERG and ahead toward the future.
“These events were all about learning new things, meeting new people, and planting the seeds for us to continue to grow as individuals and colleagues,” said Berenice. “We need to maintain the positive energy and momentum and keep these inspiring conversations going.”
ELC has a long history of supporting and empowering women across its supply chain and broader enterprise. ELC’s Global Supply Chain is made up of more than 50% women—which is nearly 15% higher than best in class for other consumer packaged goods’ supply chains. In addition to the Women in Supply Chain ERG, ELC’s Value Chain supports women through other initiatives like Open Doors, ELC’s women’s leadership development program that currently reaches women in 15 countries. Across ELC’s Global Value Chain, the company embraces inclusion, diversity, and equity through its broader “Value Chain Conscious Inclusion” initiative. This initiative includes events, leadership trainings, and other employee engagement opportunities to help foster an inclusive culture and embrace the diversity of ELC’s workforce.
“This notable milestone is a testament to ELC's long-term commitment to advancing female talent across the value chain,” said Gaelle. “I look forward to witnessing Women in Supply Chain's continued growth and positive impact over the next decade.”
