Happy International Women’s Day: Celebrating the Infinite Potential of Women in Tech

March 8 is International Women’s Day, and The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) is spotlighting women leading digital innovation across our company.

Company Feature

As a company founded by a trailblazing woman in STEM who combined robust experimentation and cutting-edge technology to create products beloved by consumers globally, ELC recognizes the incredible contributions of women in STEM to our company, our industry, and our world.

Despite growing efforts to close the gender gap in STEM, women only make up 34% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Additionally, recent research shows a majority of Gen Z girls and young women say they’re not interested in a STEM career because they don’t think they would enjoy STEM (61%) or be good at it (57%)The gender gaps are particularly high for careers in technology, including computer science and engineering.

The underrepresentation of women and girls in technology and other STEM fields is linked to factors such as gender stereotypes perpetuated by media and society, lack of exposure to STEM in schools, cultural factors, and, importantly, a lack of role models.

That’s why, at ELC, we’re committed to featuring the many ways women lead in STEM across our business, and showing women and girls how they can turn their passion for STEM into a career in beauty and beyond.

This International Women’s Day, ELC is proud to spotlight women leading digital innovation across our company, and their top tips and advice for women and girls looking to pursue careers in tech. Scroll through some remarkable ELC employees below who are paving the way for women and girls in technology.
