ELC and M.A.C Partner to Host Spelman College’s Convocation

Executives at The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) shared career readiness and brand innovation insights with 170+ students.

On February 20, ELC, in partnership with Global Talent, M·A·C, and the Spelman Pathways Program, hosted Spelman College’s Convocation—a lecture series for freshman students featuring prominent scholars and professionals across industries and sectors. This was the first time ELC hosted Spelman College’s Convocation.

The Convocation consisted of on-campus events that brought Spelman alumnae within ELC together with more than 170 current students to discuss career readiness strategies and beauty industry insights, plus lead a makeup application masterclass.

ELC employees and Spelman alumnae discussed their careers and how they drive change.

The Convocation opened with remarks by Mallory Butts, a Spelman student who interned during the summer at ELC, followed by a panel discussion, Let’s Talk Beauty Presents: Crafting Your Career in the Beauty Industry, featuring ELC Spelman alumnae Monique Davis, Vice President, Local & Cultural Innovation;  Jasmin Courtney, Vice President, Global Brand Growth Intelligence & Marketing Strategy, M·A·C; Asha Harris, Executive Director, Global Marketing, Aveda; and LaTranda Irons, Executive Director, Organizational Effectiveness, North America.

 

Panelists discussed their career journeys and how they drive industry transformation, champion inclusion and equity, and foster a sense of belonging within their teams. The importance of representation, owning your voice, and innovative product offerings for diverse consumer needs were key themes throughout the convocation.

The day concluded with a M.A.C Masterclass presented by Romero Jennings, Director, Makeup Artistry, at M.A.C. Romero demonstrated artistry techniques inspired by London Fashion Week for all skin types and tones. Featured products included M·A·C’s Locked Kiss Ink 24Hr Lipstick and Chestnut Lip Liner, which students can use at their next interview or professional event.
